The Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) held their farmers’ Field Day in Ibadan, Oyo state, with the theme, “Dissemination of CRIN Technologies through Multi-stakeholder Process”.
Delivering his welcome address, Executive Director of CRIN, Dr Olubamiwa Olayiwola, highlighted the institute’s achievements, including the showcase of CRIN’s Technological innovations.
Director of Economics and Extension CRIN, Dr Olusoji Oduwole explained that the essence of the event, was for awareness creation, adoption and investment opportunities on CRIN technologies.
He emphasized the need to move the youths from the unsecured sector of riding motor bikes and tri-cycles, to the productive sector, while adding that the technologies showcased, have been identified to create job opportunities, generate income and improve livelihood.
Governor of Oyo state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who was represented by program manager, tree crops of Oyo State Min. of agriculture, Rev. Yemi Akinyinka, delivered the keynote address
The event was graced by the farmers’ associations of all the CRIN mandate crops, representatives of villages adopted by CRIN for research, other research institutes and stakeholders.
Cocoa hybrid materials of (CRIN TC 1 – CRIN TC 8) Cocoa, Cashew, Tea and Kola value added products, were all exhibited for interested investors.
